Product Introduction

Fully graphitized petroleum coke is a product that has undergone a high-temperature graphitization process. It is black or dark gray in color, has a metallic luster, and is composed of tiny graphite crystals that form granular, columnar, or needle-like structures. Due to its high carbon content and low impurity content, fully graphitized petroleum coke is a highly sought-after material in the steel smelting industry, where it is used as a high-quality carbon additive and recarburizer.

The production process of fully graphitized petroleum coke is comprised of the following steps:

The preparation of the raw material is a crucial step in the production process. It is essential to select high-quality petroleum coke as the raw material. These raw materials are typically derived from heavy residues in the oil processing industry and are obtained through processes such as distillation and catalytic cracking.

The next stage is crushing and screening. The next step is to crush and screen the raw petroleum coke in order to obtain a particle size distribution that meets the required specifications.

The next step is graphitization treatment. The crushed petroleum coke is placed in a graphitization furnace and graphitized at high temperature (usually over 2800°C). This process involves rearranging the carbon atoms in the petroleum coke to form a more ordered graphite structure.

Once the graphitization treatment is complete, the product is cooled to room temperature and then screened, sorted, and packaged for storage and transportation.

Carbon additive: As a carbon additive in the steel smelting process, fully graphitized petroleum coke can significantly increase the carbon content of steel products, thereby improving their mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Carbon Raising Agent: In the casting and forging process, fully graphitized petroleum coke can be used as a carbon raising agent to help increase the carbon content and strength of castings and forgings.

Electrode Material: Due to its good electrical conductivity and high temperature stability, fully graphitized petroleum coke can also be used to make graphite electrodes for high temperature smelting processes such as electric arc furnace steelmaking.
