Graphitized petroleum coke is an important high-quality raw and auxiliary material for steel smelting and casting. China is an important exporter of artificial graphite, and graphitized petroleum coke is also part of bulk goods. In the export process, sea transportation is often used to minimize the cost.
Therefore, for graphitized petroleum coke of different particle sizes, the packaging selection needs to consider the following factors:
1. Dust and moisture-proof. The powder is relatively fine and easy to raise dust, so the packaging bag should be well protected from flying dust. Ton bags with dust covers at the discharge port should be selected to avoid dust diffusion during unpacking. All particle sizes need to be moisture-proof.
2. Strength requirements. Large particles, such as 5-10mm graphitized petroleum coke, are prone to wear and tear. The bottom of the bag body is strengthened with wear-resistant strips, such as polyester coating, and steel corner guards are added to the sides. High-purity graphite powder and graphitized petroleum coke powder with small particle sizes, such as 0-0.2mm graphitized petroleum coke, high-purity graphite, and graphite electrode powder, need to prevent leakage.
3. Transportation and storage. During sea transportation, attention should be paid to moisture prevention. An extra layer of moisture-proof film should be placed in the toner bag. All particle sizes should be lined with ≥0.08mm PE film. It is recommended to add desiccant in humidity-sensitive areas. Strong and durable ton bags are required for long-distance transportation to resist falling.
4. Convenience of downstream use. According to the downstream factory, ton bags are suitable for mechanical feeding, and small bags are suitable for manual feeding.
Packaging solution recommendation
| Particle size range | Recommended packaging method | Key considerations |
| Micro powder (<0.5mm) | 1. Moisture-proof ton bag (lined with PE film) + outer wrapping film 2. 25kg valve paper bag (double-layer PE lining) |
Strictly moisture-proof, dust-proof, and anti-static |
| Fine particles (0.5-5mm) | 1. Ton bag (PP+PE composite lining) 2. Container |
Mainly moisture-proof, while also preventing particle leakage |
| Medium particles (5-20mm) | 1. Ton bags (thickened PP material) 2. Container |
Anti-wear, anti-hooking, and damage |
| Large particles (>20mm) | 1. Ton bags (wear-resistant coating) 2. Metal/plastic turnover boxes |
Anti-mechanical impact, anti-edge damage |
Therefore, graphitized petroleum coke powder and granules of different particle sizes have different requirements for packaging. For powders with small particle sizes, use dust-proof ton bags as much as possible, and do not add small bags to reduce the waste of raw materials. For large particle sizes, pay attention to wear resistance. At the same time, fine-tuning the packaging plan according to the actual transportation distance, customer equipment compatibility, such as hoisting load restrictions, and local climate, humidity/temperature difference can significantly reduce the cargo damage rate.
